Detail from our new Gianicolo vacation rental in Trastevere

Trastevere, which translates to “beyond the Tiber” in Italian, was the countryside in ancient times where many wealthy Romans built summer villas to escape the hot, crowded city (Check out Villa Farnesina which features frescoes by Rafael, for example). During the Middle Ages, the urban planning created a network of winding, narrow streets, criss-crossing each other and occasionally opening up into large piazzas, like Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere and Piazza San Cosimato. Today the narrow streets make for an incredibly whimsical experience, with small shops, restaurants, bars, and workshops making up the ground floor of vine-covered buildings. At night the neighborhood transforms with bustling nightlife, attracting local trasteverini, expats, and visiting students alike.

The clean, modern design mixed with carefully selected classic pieces give the apartment relaxing, comfortable and homey vibe. Multiple bedrooms provide ample space for the whole family or all of your friends, hosting up to 8 guests, while an elevator makes accessing the 4th floor a breeze.
