Internazionali BNL d’Italia Tennis Open, May 2nd – 15th, 2016
15 April 2016

The International BNL Tennis Open of Italy is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the capital, as demonstrated by the enormous success of advance ticket sales this year – all tickets for the final and semi-final at the Foro Italico were already sold out in January!

About 4 months from the beginning of the tournament taking place at the Foro Italico of Rome from May 2nd to 15th, the tickets for the decisive single female and male matches, both taking place on Sunday, May 15h, 2016 have already sold out, as well as those for the male and female semi-finals scheduled for Saturday, May 14th.

In 2012, the Internazionali BNL d’Italia were followed by an impressive number of spectators who watched the matches in the stadium as well as via live transmissions on TV. The single male match was particularly anticipated, especially because the final had to be postponed by one day to May 25th, 2012 due to the rain that had rendered it impossible to continue the game. For the sixth time (after the victories in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010) the male winner of the tournament was Rafael Nadal who beat his colleague Novak Djokovic by 75-63, while the queen of the tournament was the Russian Maria Sharapova, who beat the Chinese Na Li in a passionate match full of suspense due to an interruption of more than two hours due to the rain (46 64 76).

Last week, precisely on April 12th at 10.30 h the press conference presenting the International BNL Tennis Open of Italy 2016 took place in the Hospitality Area of the Stadio Olimpico of Rome. The Italian tournament celebrates its 73rd edition this year and it is once again anticipated to be a stellar edition, welcoming the most elite players of global tennis. Just as usual, the tournament is organized as a “combined event” in which all male and female matches will take place within nine days.

If you are coming to Rome to go to International BNL Tennis Open, we recommend you two holiday apartments ideally located. The 2-bedroom MAXXI apartment is situated just beyond the Ponte della Musica, in the Flaminio area, and it can accommodate up to 7 guests. The BELLE ARTI apartment is located near the Parioli neighborhood; it has 3 bedrooms and the tramway stop to get to the Foro Italico is just few steps away.

There has never been a better occasion to book your holiday in the Italian capital, which will be invaded by passionate tennis fans from all over the world!
