Cherry trees will blossom at the end of March
Are you in Rome for a few days and want to enjoy the beautiful spring awakening away from the chaotic city centre? Would you like to enjoy a walk among of cherry trees in bloom? There are many parks and gardens in Rome, but in the second half of March I suggest you to visit the EUR area!
You can reach the EUR area easily by subway, and at the exit of the station you will find an artificial lake surrounded by a gorgeous park offering a stunning view over 2500 cherry trees in bloom.

2500 cherry trees offer a wonderful view
The path of Japan
The Lake park was created in the late 30’s around an artifical lake that is 1 km long. The bike path running throughout the park was officially inaugurated in 1959 under the name Passeggiata del Giappone (Path of Japan). For this special occasion, the Japanese government sent 2500 cherry trees that were planted all over the park, and after over 70 years the sakuras (Japanese “cherry tree”) still blossom every spring and filling the scenery around the lake with beautiful flowers.
A few years ago, a group of Romans started to seize the opportunity of the blooming period for a relaxing picknic in the park. People meet here with their family and friends tod enjoy some fun time together underneath these magnificient trees and their blossoms. The Lake park and the Path of Japan are quite unique: in no other park of Rome such a large number of cherry trees can be found!

The best way to enjoy the cherry blossoms at EUR is relaxing under their shadow with good friends
